This Privacy Policy explains how Project Research LLC ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the Digital Fish Rain game and website at www.digitalfishrain.com (the "Service"). We built the Service to be privacy-respecting by design: it runs entirely in your browser, and your gameplay information stays on your own device.
We have intentionally minimized data collection. In the current version of the Service:
The only information the game itself works with is the leaderboard you generate while playing, which is stored locally as described below.
When you finish a game and choose to log a score, the game saves a short entry — the up-to-three
characters you type as your initials and your numeric score — using your browser's
localStorage feature. This information:
We recommend that you do not enter your real name or any personal information as your initials. The leaderboard is meant for short tags or nicknames.
Like virtually all websites, the hosting provider that delivers this Service may automatically record standard technical request information in server logs — for example, your IP address, browser type and version, the date and time of your visit, and the pages or files requested. This information is generated by the hosting infrastructure for security, troubleshooting, and operational purposes. We do not use it to build profiles of visitors or to track you across other websites, and we do not combine it with your gameplay data (which, as noted, never leaves your device).
The Digital Fish Rain game does not set advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you across websites. The local leaderboard described in Section 2 uses browser storage, not cookies. If your browser shows any storage for this site, it is the local leaderboard and nothing more.
We care about the privacy of children. Digital Fish Rain is designed so that no personal information is collected from any user, including children under the age of 13. Because the game stores its leaderboard locally on the player's own device and transmits nothing to us, we do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from children online within the meaning of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA").
Because the Service does not collect personal information from you, we have no personal information to sell, rent, or trade, and we do not do so. Limited technical information contained in server logs (Section 3) may be processed by our hosting provider on our behalf, and we may disclose information if required to do so by law or to protect the rights, safety, or security of our users or the Service.
You are in control of the small amount of information the Service uses:
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Because we do not maintain personal information about visitors on our servers, there is generally nothing for us to retrieve or delete, but you may contact us with any request and we will respond as required by applicable law.
We take reasonable measures to operate the Service securely, including serving the site over an encrypted HTTPS connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but because the Service does not collect or store your personal information on our servers, the privacy risk to you from using it is very low.
The current version of the Service does not embed third-party advertising, analytics, fonts, or social media components. If we add any such services in the future, we will update this policy to describe what they are and what information they may receive, and we will obtain any consent required by law before doing so.
This website and the Digital Fish Rain game are developed, tested, and partly written with the help of AI tools, including Anthropic's Claude. AI assistance is used for tasks like writing and refactoring code, drafting and revising text (including parts of this policy), and testing features before release. Every AI-assisted change is reviewed by our team before it is published — nothing goes live automatically or unreviewed.
This is a statement about how we build the Service, not about your data. Using AI tools during development does not change anything described elsewhere in this policy: your gameplay data, scores, and leaderboard initials are never sent to us, to Anthropic, or to any other AI provider, because they never leave your browser's local storage in the first place (see Section 2).
Project Research LLC applies the following principles to any use of artificial intelligence in building and operating this Service:
See our Terms of Use for how AI use relates to ownership of, and our responsibility for, everything published on the Service.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here, so we encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
